My Summer of Brooks Ghost 14s

It's time for another shoe review! This one starts with a little story: I got sick about a month ago, right when my new pair of Brooks Ghost 14s showed up on my doorstep. Is there anything worse than laying in bed, wishing you could go running in your new shoes?! So I did spend a fair amount of time staring at these shoes before I could run in them.
The good news is, this is actually my 3rd pair of Ghosts and my 2nd pair of Ghost 14s. Over the past year these have become my go-to shoe; so much so that I actually ran my last (PR-setting) half marathon in my Ghosts! So, I knew these shoes were comfortable already when this new, bright pink pair showed up.
One of my favorite things about these shoes is that they have a perfect size for me! I wear a 10.5 in street shoes but need an 11 or 12 in running shoes. Brooks Ghosts come in 11.5 which is hard to find in women's shoes. They fit perfectly - not too big or too tight. What a dream!
What I didn't know until recently is that the Brooks Ghost 14s are the world's first carbon neutral shoe. Brooks has achieved this by "converting materials in [their] product to recycled alternatives, using low impact dyeing processes, and sourcing materials and [their] product from factories that use renewable energy"1 As someone concerned about our environment and sustainability, this was really cool to learn and will keep me coming back to this line for sure.
I've also been on a return to running journey, where I have both been recovering from COVID and trying to correct my running form all at the same time. These runs take a lot of focus for me - thinking about my stride. The thing about running in these Ghosts is that I didn't even notice they were there - which really, isn't that all you can ask for in a running shoe? They are cushiony soft but still responsive enough to help me feel the bounce I'm trying to put in my step these days.
